The highest holiday of the year is right around the corner.
While it may not be recognized as a national holiday it is certainly celebrated by many people every year.
Canada legalized cannabis in 2018 which has allowed 420 celebrations to flourish over the years. This year is no different, despite public health guidelines, there are still many ways to safely partake in this high holiday.
Get Baking
The term ‘baked’ is a slang term used in cannabis culture referring to being under the influence of drugs or more specifically, marijuana.
Try out some cannabis-themed baked goods.
Or you can try making some special treats yourself, or just baking something ‘normal’ for when you start to feel hungry.
Here are some great ways to get baked:
- Try a classic like cannabis brownies– easy to bake and save for later
- Take a look at some of the cannabis baked goods that ATOM has to offer
- If you’re not looking to include cannabis in your actual dessert, go out and grab some of your favourite desserts or go-to snacks for the occasion.
Get creative but make sure you’re following recipes and packaging closely so that you can consume the right amount safely.
Don’t forget to label your special treats if you make extras.
Organize a Smoke Session
One of the greatest things about 420 is the gatherings that bring people together to celebrate this.
However, like other holidays, gatherings have to look a little different this year. Try organizing a virtual smoke session with some friends and celebrate together.
Smoke Session Ideas:
- Create a playlist with your friends to listen to while you all dip into your cannabis treats – If you’re looking to stay on theme there are plenty of weed-themed songs out there to choose from
- Try a Teleparty stream and watch a movie together after you’ve had a few drags
- Connect virtually and come up with some fun trivia questions related to 420 and see how much your friends know about the highest holiday of the year.
Looking for some smoke? Try one of ATOM’s exotic strains!
Public health regulations vary across provinces so before organizing an in-person gathering make sure to check your local restrictions.
For instance, British Columbia is currently allowing up to 10 people to gather at a park, beach, or backyard of a residence.
Just make sure you are following the social distancing guidelines and avoiding sharing anything with others.
Celebrate 420 with Cannabis Self-Care
Given that April 20th falls on a Tuesday this year, it might be hard for some people to celebrate in the same way they would if it were to have fallen on a weekend.
If that’s the case, try some more laid-back celebratory activities.
After a long day of work, try a THC/CBD-infused bath bomb to relax and mellow out. If baths are not your style, there are cannabis-infused creams and lip balms that would make the perfect addition to whatever your self-care routine may be.
Celebrating April 20th this year may look a little different, but it doesn’t have to feel any different.
Have a safe, happy, and lit 420!
