Cannabis, marijuana, THC, CBD, hemp…there’s a lot of wordsand acronyms out there when it comes to the green stuff. It’s good to understand the

difference; not only for the awesome dinner party conversation starters, but for your own consumption preferences. In this article, we’re highlighting the differences (and similarities) between THC and CBD — the most commonly misunderstood and most attention-grabbing parts of the plant.

First of all, what are THC and CBD?

Well, there are more than 100 cannabinoid chemicals in cannabis. CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are the most common cannabinoids found in cannabis products.

CBD and THC have the same chemical formula — 21 carbon atoms, 30 hydrogen atoms, and two oxygen atoms. But their atoms are arranged differently, and their different chemical properties is why they affect your body differently.

How are THC and CBD the same?

  • Both are cannabinoids
  • Both release neurotransmitters in your brain, that can affect things like mood, pain, and sleep
  • Both have anti-inflammatory qualities
  • Both can be consumed orally, smoked, or vaporized

How are THC and CBD different?

The most straight-forward and simple answer is THC can make you feel “high”, while CBD cannot. CBD can be used daily with very functional effects, while THC will give you a euphoric experience.
